He was jailed nearly two years without trial, bail or sentence, and was presumed to be guilty merely by association. Jurors were told by French authorities, in essence:..."Because Barry is African, nothing less than an extremely long sentence is called for; Africans are NOT BOTHERED by prison, where conditions are better than they are accustomed to in their normal lives...."  At the trial Barry was judged not by anything that he did, but simply because of his relationship with the other 2 defendants. He was tried in a special tribunal called Assis Special, where the lawyer is seated away from the defendant. Not only seated away from the defendant but with his back to the defendant. Barry WAS NOT arrested with the other defendants, but the police MANIPULATED the dates to make it look like he was arrested with the other defendants. Barry was in Madrid, Spain visiting his fiance on May 22, 1994 and they claim he was arrested on May 21st. The police also claim he was in Paris on Feb. 28, 1994....he has proof with his passport that HE WAS NOT in Paris on those dates. Barry finally received his case file 1 1/2 years AFTER he was judged and sentenced. In a NORMAL country the accused have rights, not the case in France. Barry has no phone privileges, and is allowed only one visit a week which lasts only 1/2 an hour. And even then, it is almost impossible to obtain a visitors permit. Now that Barry FINALLY has his case file there is NO OTHER process available to him.  Barry is NOT GUILTY !!!!! The other two defendants did not implicate Barry at all.  It is the French government that has gone after an innocent man.  Barry is of african descent, and the french are extremely XENOPHOBIC and this played a MAJOR part in Barry's trial.
